When you donate to The Leaven, we make three commitments to you. This is because we take stewardship of donated dollars and supplies very seriously, knowing how much they matter to the children in our programs.
Our first commitment to you is to use each donation to do the most good possible and benefit boys and girls with great needs. We are a grassroots organization that works hands-on in Fairfield and Solano County. We monitor our programs to ensure they are achieving the intended goals, and constantly strive to exceed expectations and “raise the bar” when we measure success.
Secondly, we are committed to financial transparency. Our independent board of directors regularly reviews our expenses and program progress, holding The Leaven accountable to high standards of stewardship. Our staff shares the board’s commitment to stretching every dollar and donation, investing them where we can make a real impact on the lives of children.
Lastly, we are committed to telling The Leaven’s story to more potential donors in a way that is cost-effective. In Fiscal Year 2009–2010, 80 cents of every dollar went directly to programs that benefit boys and girls, 18 cents funded the administration and management of our tutoring, summer camp and community programs, and fundraising costs represented two percent of our income.
